Following its review, the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) assigned all Capitan Municipal Schools an accreditation status of approved for the 2025–2026 school year.
This annual process reviews whether public schools meet key legal and regulatory requirements. The PED evaluates evidence across ten areas related to school programs, governance, reporting, and administrative practices. The final determination also considers the school’s most recent performance outcomes from the New Mexico Vistas federal accountability system.
