Following an extensive review of outstanding applicants for the superintendent position at Capitan Municipal Schools, the following candidates were selected as semifinalists to interview with the board of education:

- Tamra Gedde
- Jeff Gephart
- Heather Gutierrez
- John Sandoval
- George Thomas
Semifinalist interviews will take place on Thursday, April 16 in a closed executive session of the board. Following these interviews, finalists will be selected. On April 27, the finalists will have an opportunity to engage with a student group, a staff group, and participate in a community forum in Traylor Gym at 5:30 p.m. On May 6, the board will have finalist interviews to determine who will lead the district beginning on July 1, 2026.
